Beautify Your Home

What Your House Should Be Wearing This Season You want to totally redesign your bedroom this fall, and you want to be modern about the design, but you are at a total loss of information regarding what is in style for the home this season. Here’s a quick guide to beginning to pick out your new contemporary bedroom furniture to re-outfit your room this fall. It’s difficult to define exactly what makes up modern bedroom sets, since the styles are quite diverse and run the gamut of tastes to suit people of all likes and dislikes. However, if you look around, you’ll notice that most of these more modern offerings, like those from Hillsdale Furniture, have a somewhat simplified appearance as opposed to the high levels of detail preferred in classical styles. The pieces themselves are also smaller and less bulky, leaving you more room to navigate the area around them, unlike large poster beds in Edwardian or Elizabethan style. While some remain decorative with curved headboards that are shaped like a bell, even these have been cut back in terms of noticeable detail. In fact, most modern beds are all about clean, crisp lines, straight angles, and squaring off on the edges. The modern headboard is probably the most prominent piece of the modern bed altogether and is only slightly counterbalanced in show and notability by the fact that so many setups now have a matching footboard in smaller stature and detail. You’ll find designs in wood as well as wrought iron and other metals, but all will look similar in design, if not overall appearance. There will be a lot less intricately woven design in the modern piece. A contemporary daybed is one of the most noticeable changes in design. In the past, brass and wrought iron were curled around and wove a fanciful design into the backboard. Today, however, you’ll find the modern jobs with straight lines and harsh, 90 degree angles that simplify the design and create a minimalist look to the piece of furniture. The Sierra Daybed from Fashion Bed Group is a great example of such design. The changes made here make using a daybed more acceptable for men as well as women, since the old design was viewed as highly feminine. The new clean lines and mathematical accuracy make it less so. Contemporary design has done nothing to remove the sturdiness or long-lasting guarantees of good furniture, either. In fact, some of the modern furnishings you find will be high quality bedroom furniture that you would expect to pay a lot more for than you’ll find through their manufacturers. With so much inspiration to start a new design in your home and so many contemporary ideas from which to choose, there is no reason to put off making your change this fall.
