What's A Daybed For Anyway?

I often wondered what a daybed was truly for. After all, it isn’t a couch and it isn’t a typical bed either. What is a daybed? A daybed is a cross between a couch, a chaise and a bed! It is meant to be used for either a bed or a lounging area and is an extremely versatile piece of furniture. The Fashion Bed Group has a large selection of daybeds to choose from.

When looking at daybeds, you first have to realize that there are two types: metal and wood. The wooden day beds can be extremely solid and heavy, while the metal daybeds are a bit lighter. Both types of daybeds are absolutely beautiful.

Let’s look at one specific type of daybed: the Calais daybed. This daybed is an example of a classic metal daybed. It has a lot of scroll work in the iron and has four golden balls, one at each post. The back rises fairly high and provides a more than adequate resting place for your back, while the sides are high enough to lean against but low enough to be unobtrusive if you are trying to watch television or to see someone from an end.

Many teenagers have daybeds in their rooms, but they are also great for putting in a spare room! It’s the perfect solution, giving you more room in your spare room, or office, while giving you a beautiful place to have a guest lay their head as well. Daybeds, like those from the HIllsdale Furniture, are really making a comeback. They are being used by anyone looking to create a spacious look, and can be used in almost any room!
