Have you ever been inside an old ship? There are a number of places in the United States where you can tour around the replica of a very old ship. Why would you want to see a replica? Because by touring a replica of a ship that was much like one the Pilgrims came to this nation on, you can begin to realize exactly what they went through. Their space was small. They didn’t arrive on great, hulking ships, but on small ships that had barely enough room for the crew members to live and eat. Even the captain had little room, but at least he was fortunate enough to have his own bedroom furniture.

Most of the time, the captain’s bedroom would double as a place for the crew to meet to discuss things, which meant that the captain’s bedroom had to have plenty of room, and while some captains had trundle beds, allowing the first mate a place to sleep, many were able to have their bedroom furniture double as storage places. The Sonoma Captains Storage Bed is very much like what you would find on in the captain’s cabin of old ship.

Made by Prepac Furniture, this bed allows the mattress to rest on slats, making it unnecessary to have a box spring. It is available in twin, full, queen, and king sizes and has six drawers; three on each side, giving you planet of room to store your clothing or you linens in, which is perfect for small or already cramped rooms.
