There are times when a bedroom is not a bedroom. At least, they aren’t only a bedroom. A guestroom may do double duty as an office or a child’s room may also be the only playroom. Loft apartments have one room that serves every purpose. The bedroom furniture in these hard working spaces should be practical and able to function in multiple ways, much like the room itself. Daybeds and daybeds with trundle beds underneath are workhorses for multipurpose rooms. They are more comfortable for afternoon napping or overnight guests than a pull-out couch but still serve as seating during the day. Adding a trundle bed doubles your guest capacity without sacrificing space.

A daybed is usually a twin-size mattress with a decorative frame running along three side of the bed: the two shorts sides and one long side. They are typically positioned in the room as you would a couch, with the long side as the “couch” back. They can be made of wood and leather, just like other bedroom sets. They also come in metal, like the Milano Daybed with Link Spring, or in a combination of materials. Some have the option of adding a trundle.

A trundle day bed is a frame or drawer that pulls out from beneath the main daybed. They may pop up to the height of the main bed or remain low to the ground. Trundle Beds are a space-saving and stylish alternative to a bunk bed. Daybeds are a sensible solution for small spaces and bedrooms that are more than bedrooms.
