Home-and-Bedroom Sponsors "Pirates of The Caribbean: At World's End" Contest - What Secrets Lurk Inside a Real "Pirates of the Caribbean" Bedroom?
In conjunction with the release of "Pirates of the Caribbean III: At World's End" on May 25, 2007, Home-and-Bedroom.com is sponsoring a pirate-themed essay contest. Entrants will be eligible to win a Disney "Pirates of The Caribbean: At The World's End" Twin Bed Comforter Set. Oak Park, CA (PRWeb) May 17, 2007 -- Captain Jack Sparrow may be the summer's hottest box-office draw, but what's it really like inside his bedroom? Watch out for the skull and crossbones hanging from the ceiling. Be careful not to trip over the gold dubloons spilling out of the old chest by the captain's bed. The most awaited movie of the summer, "Pirates of the Caribbean III: At World's End" will hit theaters on May 25th. To celebrate the film's big-screen release, Home-and-Bedroom.com is sponsoring a pirate-themed essay contest. The best 100-word description of a pirate's bedroom the company receives between now and June 10, 2007 will be rewarded with a "dead man's chest" bounty: a Disney "Pirates of The Caribbean:At The World's End" Twin Bed Comforter and Sham set with a retail value of $100. Seafaring swashbucklers who would like to learn more about the contest can do so online at Home and Bedroom's Pirate Bedroom Contest Headquarters. Home-and-Bedroom.com knew it wanted to do a tie-in promotion with the movie. That led to some creative brainstorming. "Beds and bedroom sets are our company's specialty, so we thought it would be fun to ask : What exactly does a Pirate's bedroom look like?" explains Ben Weissman, spokesperson for the online furniture retailer. Whether it's Captain Jack Sparrow, Barbosa or Davy Jones, they all have a certain "Pirate Style" to their quarters. We want to know what people imagine that would be like. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl What hatched from that idea was the "What's It Like Inside a Pirate's Bedroom?" contest. The company is looking for the most original description entrants can concoct. Fans of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films should have no problem interior designing sleeping quarters for Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom and the rest of the big-screen buccaneer gang, but only the most inventive will take home the treasure chest. The winner will receive a Disney Pirates twin bed comforter set to makeover his or her very own pirate's bedroom. If history is any indication, this year's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" easily stands to become a blockbuster hit. According to MovieWeb.com's "All Time Top 1000 Grossing Movies," the original "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" ranks at number seven on its highest earners' list. And the second installment, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," does its predecessor one better with a number six ranking. The two installments combined have grossed over $845,000,000 in the U.S. domestic market. When you are putting together a wonderful room for your child, you are going to want to think of the addition of piece that will be able to stand the test of time. The last thing that you will want to do is fill the space with a bunch of furnishings that will have to be changed out within a year or so because he or she has grown out of them. One nice item that you can place in any child's room while still knowing that it will be a great piece of furniture for years to come is a quality student desk.
With a student desk in the right color and style, your child can grow over the years, getting use out of it every single step of the way. As a matter of fact, if you happen to choose a piece that has a classic design, you may even find that your son or daughter will even want to take their desk along with them when they move away to college or their very first apartment. Certainly, it is quite easy to see just why a student desk is such a worthy investment. A nice choice that will remain handsome throughout the years happens to be the Thunderbird Aspirations student desk. This is a desk that comes complete with plenty of workspace, drawers and even an optional hutch. Any child or teenager will definitely enjoy doing all of their school work and other projects on such a nice student desk. by: Home and Bedroom Furniture

Your Bedroom Furniture Decor - Make It UniqueYou’ve been searching for a way to decorate your bedroom without copying any styles that you see in all the store setups, but you can’t seem to think of anything unique on your own. You’ve flipped through several thousand catalog pages, and nothing jumps out at you as an original idea to start with. How can you create unique bedroom décor that you’ll enjoy if you don’t even know where to start? Pick a single point of focus for you bedroom design. If you can’t decide, start with the headboard. Headboards are always one of the focal points of the room and should catch attention upon entering the room. Your first determination is what style you want to decorate in. If you choose to go with a classical design, you’ll want to consider a brass headboard, since this is a classy, old-fashioned material that can really bring out any other accessories in the room that shine with the brassy color. You can find large brass headboards with detailed designs in many places. Wooden headboards can work well for a classic style as well. If you go with wood for this style option, you’ll want to use a heavy wood like oak or mahogany and make sure that it is large and imposing with intricately carved designs. If you choose a Contemporary Headboard style, you can still opt for a wooden headboard, which will have much sharper angles, cleaner lines, and less intricate carving. It will be simple and probably a lighter material, such as cedar or redwood, though mahogany is still popular because it is so durable. Another option is a wrought iron headboard. Because wrought iron is sleeker and more basic and minimal by nature, it is a prime choice for individuals looking for modern headboards. Now that you have your centerpiece determined, you can move on to other décor in the room. Search through antique stores and little mom-n-pop shops for unique items that match your headboard, and buy one-of-a-kind hand carved pieces to assure that you are getting a unique item. You can even create décor of your own, simply purchasing pieces of wood to match a wooden headboard, carving out your own design (whether you are a realist and have an artistic ability or you are simply working out an “abstract” design) and mounting your work on the walls. If you want to get really creative, you can decorate your headboard. On a wrought iron headboard, you may choose to hang multicolored beads and faux jewels, while an unfinished or “naked” wooden headboard may prompt you to paint it any number of exotic colors or patterns. You can also buy material and pad and cover the headboard to create something totally different. Get creative, and build yourself a unique bedroom design by drawing out your inner artist, however untrained. Rather than opting to spend a great deal of money for something everyone else can get, do it yourself and find pleasure in your own ability and unique design.

You may have had the chance to see and use a television armoire while you were a guest at a hotel. These are the armoires that have a good space left behind cabinets in the middle where the television sits. Many hotels like to use these television armoires to be able to keep the television safely tucked away, while also keeping a clean look in the room having it put away when not in use. You too can keep such clean lines in your bedroom with the simple addition of a beautiful television armoire.
There are plenty of designs that you can choose from when you are shopping for a television armoire. You can choose one that will match your current set, or even one that is a bit different to use as a sort of accent piece in the room. Either way, these television armoires make for an incredible piece of furniture that is both handsome as well as functional. The VB Essex Classic Armoire is just right to fit your television in your room as well as a DVD and VCR if you would like one set up. In addition to the television cabinet, you also have the convenience of great drawers that are deep enough for extra clothing or blankets. Complete with a dark cherry finish, this is a stunning piece that you will be proud to add to your bedroom as a fabulous media center. You may even find that watching movies and television in your room will be your favorite way to pass the time once you have this piece of furniture set up. Getting Creative with Full BedsWhile it may not seem as exciting as decorating with a king size bed, full beds are still useful in many rooms of the house and can be a joy to decorate. King beds aren’t practical in guest rooms, which are typically much smaller than the master bedroom, and using such a large bed and mattress combination can fill the room to the point that, even if you can include other furniture in the design, it’s too cramped for comfort. Also, as your children get older, a twin bed may not be large enough or long enough to be practical, especially if you have a son who seems to grow overnight. Here, too, full beds are a better option. When choosing to install a full sized set in any room, you don’t want to just leave the mattress and box spring undressed on the frame. You want to find the right way to decorate the room and the right style full bed for your purpose. Get creative and look at full captain beds for a guest room. Reminiscent of being out at sea on a boat, these ornate pieces will make the guest feel as though he’s in a larger bed without taking up the space of a queen or king mattress. Another option can be to browse different full size platform beds. The added height on a modern platform bed gives a better impression that you are sleeping in an adult-sized bed and, much like the captain bed, creates a sense that the bed is really larger than its actual dimensions. While a platform bed would not be a great option for smaller children, as they grow it could provide a bit of novelty to an otherwise bland room. For some, the idea of full size day beds invokes interest. In a guest room, this works out nicely because it provides a place to sleep, as well as a “couch” for daytime use. This means that the guests can be comfortable in their own room without feeling obligated to be in the living room with the host at all times, and the host doesn’t feel the need to entertain the guests constantly. With childrens furniture this can be fanciful for a young girl, and it can also provide a solution to spacial issues, especially if two children must share a room as they get older. You can still provide full beds for both children, with one sleeping on a rollaway trundle bed that slips under the daybed. As you can see, full beds don’t have to be plain and unappealing. Take the time to decorate and bring them into the 21st century. Your style and taste can certainly make any full bed more attractive. by: Home and Bedroom Furniture
