Metal Beds - What is there to choose from? You’ll also find that, in many day beds, wrought iron is the material of choice. While you can find a metal daybed in any of the three major metals used in modern bedroom furniture, wrought iron is popular for several reasons. First of all, it is not expensive, and it is very durable. A wrought iron day bed can last for years without any kind of wear and tear. Also, since daybeds are usually found in girls’ rooms, you’ll find that wrought iron is a very versatile material around which you can decorate and redecorate many times and still incorporate the bed in the room, meaning that you won’t have to spend the money to replace the furniture every time your daughter decides her room is too “childish”. When looking at bedroom furniture sets for adults, you’ll find options in all materials as well, though less often in aluminum, as this tends to be less enduring and adults don’t change furniture as often. Most of the time, iron and metal bed pieces meant for adult usage will be either wrought iron or brass. If you are interested in contemporary bedroom furniture and décor, you’ll probably opt for wrought iron. This is a more modern, minimalist look to furniture that shows practicality through its functional “plainness”, as well as taste and artistic preference through the choice of intricate design that you pick, especially in terms of a headboard. Brass beds are more classical in appearance and can also be a great choice in the bedroom. Keep in mind, though, that with brass, it is necessary to perform maintenance to keep it looking fresh and shiny, mainly through regular polishing. A king size metal bed made of brass can be an imposing piece of furniture, looking quite stately and welcoming. At the same time, is a somewhat cold material, and while you’ll still be surrounded by plush covers and blankets, some people find this sort of material uninviting. A metal canopy bed in any situation will often be best made out of wrought iron, since you’ll have posts with which you may come into contact. Aluminum wouldn’t be as attractive standing out like that, and brass could easily tarnish from the frequent contact. With all of this in mind, you can see where the differences lie. When you choose the material for your bed, be sure to keep in mind the applications that are best for each type of metal, but also make your final decision based on your personal taste. After all, your bed should be a place that you enjoy sleeping and waking up. by: Home and Bedroom Furniture

Times have definitely changed over the years, and as a result many people do not seem to have enough hours in the day to do all that they wish they could do. One of the problems that many individuals seem to have due to such a busy schedule is a severe lack of sleep. Many times, even if they do end up getting in a couple of extra hours, it is still not the quality sleep that is necessary to function as a human being. If you seem to fall into this group, there are a couple of things that you may want to do to bring a good night of sleep back into your life.
Start off by making sure that you have a regular schedule and try to stick to it. With a schedule, you will be less likely to stretch yourself to the limit. Try to get together a relaxing routine that you can enjoy before you go to bed. When you retire to the bedroom, perhaps soothing music or your favorite book will do the trick. Certainly, one of the most important factors in your night of sleep is your bed itself. A new bed may be the answer. A bed that is sturdy, yet stylish will fit the bill for almost everyone that isn't sleeping well. When your body feels supported, you will in turn sleep better. If you don't feel your bedframe is the culprit, try getting a new mattress that is more suited to your needs. The perfect mattress and a good selection of pillows can mean the world of difference when it comes to sleep. You may even want to pamper yourself a bit further by splurging on a brand new bedding set to go along with your new mattress, making your bedroom an oasis that you cannot wait to retire to at the end of a long and busy day. Are you beginning to feel cramped in your small bedroom? Perhaps you need to step back and figure out if there is a way that you can turn your bedroom into the room of your dreams with a couple of tips on how to decorate a small bedroom. With just a few changes and reorganization, you would be amazed at the end result!
If it is in your budget, you may want to think about changing the color of your bedroom. Having a smaller room will call for the use of light colors, possibly in a monochromatic color scheme. You can always go back and add a decent amount of depth to a monochromatic color palette by introducing interesting patterns and textures. Make sure that you are getting the most out of the furniture that you already have. If you have a dresser and a television stand in the room, you may want to think about eliminating the stand by placing the television on the dresser. This can give you more floor space along with the illusion of a larger room. Finally, how many mirrors do you have in your small bedroom. One great decorating secret is that mirrors can work magic in terms of making any small space seem larger. Get yourself a great standing mirror for dressing and perhaps even a gorgeous wall mirror as well. Proper placement of these mirrors will definitely give your space the look and feel of a dream bedroom that you will long to come home to! by: Home and Bedroom Furniture

Winter is over, spring-cleaning has been done and now summer has firmly entrenched
itself, encouraging us to fully enjoy the season. Perhaps after the long winter months of windows being closed and freezing temperatures, it's time to air out and lighten up the bedroom. Your bedroom can become a calm and tranquil bower; here are some tips to get you started. Try taking down heavy draperies and replace it with yards of lace curtains. Place (or move) a big mirror to a different wall, perhaps across from a window where it will catch the sunlight and bounce it around. If you are lucky enough to have hardwood flooring pack away the area rugs and you instantly have a room that appears larger and airier. You may want to try rearranging the furniture as sometimes something that simple can achieve the desired look. If you are interested in replacing some of your furnishings and want to capture that summer look and feel consider a daybed. They are not just for kids or guest rooms anymore. The Mulberry Daybed, with its elegant dusty bronze finish, camelback design and gorgeous scrollwork is an excellent choice to compliment your style. Also consider replacing your existing bedding with something a little fresher, lighter and airy. Try using linen or damask fabrics to show off the clear clean lines of the daybed. And don't forget to add several big, light colored fluffy pillows, perhaps with crocheted trim or smocking to really pull everything together allowing you to enjoy your new "summer" bedroom. A Modern Bedroom In Your Office - Don’t Make Sleep Seem Like WorkIf you have limited space in your home or apartment, it can be difficult to arrange everything in the best possible fashion. One of the first ways that people consolidate space, sometimes even when it’s not necessary, is to locate their home office alongside their modern bedroom furniture. While this may seem like a convenient location and may be the only area of the home that makes sense at first glance, it may be a huge mistake to put your workstation in the one room that is supposed to be reserved for relaxation. Should you really put your office in your bedroom, and if not, what are the alternatives? The bedroom should be equated with sleep, restfulness, peace, relaxation, and stress relief. Intimacy should be key, and you should want to spend free time in that room, indulging in things that you like to do. Meanwhile, the office is a work zone. It is about seriousness, deadlines, bills, meetings, and other issues that bring stress to the breaking point. These two scenarios obviously don’t seem to mesh well. Think about what it is like to wake up in a beautiful wood and iron bed on Saturday morning, and when you should be relaxed, and the first thing you see is the pile of bills on your work desk that need to be paid. This does not set a good tone for the day. Instead of burdening your relaxation haven with your workspace, find another spot in the house. Even most efficiency apartments, the smallest homes you can find, usually have a small breakfast nook or alcove where you can stash the workstation. Cordon off a corner of the living room, or perhaps even use the formal dining room that is otherwise neglected. If you have a spare bedroom, give up the convenience of having the computer in your king size master bedroom and use the spare as an office. Get the area out of sight. Whether you have a traditional or contemporary bedroom set, if you absolutely have to have your home office inside your bedroom, there are some things you can do to eliminate a few of the negative vibes coming form the workspace. Start by finding a way to divide up the room. For example, find a three-panel shade that you can stand in front of the workstation to act as a decoration and help hide the immediate eyesore of the office. You could also use file cabinets, armoires, and end tables to build “walls” around the office space, so that it simulates having its own room outside of the bedroom. Use a large metal headboard as a divisor and place your office behind your bed so it can’t be seen at night or upon waking in the morning. If you can’t do either of these, at least have storage drawers where you can keep important files, and be sure to keep all the bills and work out of sight when not in use. A lot of affordable bedroom furniture will include a night table that can double as a file cabinet, and even some discounted bedroom furniture will have access drawers underneath. A proper indexing system will make it quick and easy to locate any file needed and then replace when done. Keeping work and pleasure separate is an essential part of life, and that includes separating your home office from your bedroom. If you can’t do it physically, at least make the attempt to do so virtually. Labels: affordable, bedroom, contemporary, daybeds, furniture, modern, sets by: Home and Bedroom Furniture |
