A Hint of Metallic
What are the hot trends in home decorating? We often turn to the experts for advice, and blogger Liz Stanley suggests using a “little touch of something metallic.” Shiny, luxurious metallic and sequins are coming down from the holiday ornaments into everyday decors, and the effect is a boost of luxury and elegance any time of year. The key, though, is to use only hints of metallic to make your “bold, glitz-and-glam” statement. How do you do this without overdoing it?
You could throw caution to the wind and complement that new set of contemporary bar stools you’ve purchased with a coat of metallic paint. You could…or you could keep it more simple and add highlights and accents to make your point. Look for brushed nickel vases or clocks, sequined fringed throws or pillows, or heavy fabrics with metallic threads. These needn’t be the focal point of your room – in fact, they are actually more effective when they shine from the background instead of demanding center stage. A little metallic goes a long way! It is also beautiful when paired with contrasting textures, like wood or fabric. Give your home a more luxe look by adding a few metallic touches.
