Bring in the Best of Spring

Rectangular Casters Dining Set

Winter decors are meant to keep us warm, hug us tight, and help us make it until the earth thaws.  Spring, though, is much more airy and light, and it is great if you can reflect this in your décor.  Allowing spring colors, lighter fabrics, and touches of nature into your home is a great way to do this.  You don’t have to buy new sets of adult and children’s bedroom furniture or a whole new discount dining room set in order to achieve a fresh look.  Instead, replace simple, inexpensive accessories to help celebrate spring.

For a charming centerpiece, try making candles in terra cotta pots.  You will need the pots, craft paint, sand or gravel, glue, floral moss (optional) and taper candles.  Dab the paint onto a sponge or paper towel and work over your terra cotta pot for a washed antique look.  If you want, you can wait for it to dry and then applique floral designs from magazines or books onto the pot with a layer of glue. Fill the pot about halfway with sand or gravel, and put the candle it, so it is supported by the sand.  If you have floral moss, arrange it over the top of the sand. In just a few minutes, you can have a charming, sunny centerpiece.
