Decorating the Great Outdoors

Mother Nature doesn’t need much assistance, especially in the summer when her blooms, flowers, greenery, sunshine, and rich aromas are in full force.  But as we spend more time outdoors, it is nice to add a little of our own style to nature.  You can do this whether you have an expansive lawn or whether you have a tiny balcony overlooking city streets.  In either case, it can be helpful to start with containers gardening.  Fill galvanized metal containers or terra cotta pots with bright blooms and annuals. Place these around your patio or yard to give it definition and add even more color.

Next, make your outdoor space comfortable with a gorgeous metal bar stools.  Pick up some inexpensive lawn furniture at yard sales or discount stores and arrange it in natural, conversational groupings.  This will make your next backyard gathering an even bigger success.  You can even make your own “table” using a large wicker basket and a piece of cut glass – just be careful if you have children or pets.  Create some sort of shade for yourself; big, bright umbrellas are a great choice.  This is a perfect place to put your table and chairs.  For your table settings, try bright acrylic dishware for a splash of complementary color, and use bamboo or jute placemats to tone it back down.  Now, get out there and have fun!
