Lighten Up! Creating Great Summer Decors
Summer is coming! Fill your home with flowers, light, and that special endless-afternoon quality that only the best summer days bring. You don’t have to undertake an expensive remodeling effort; a few simple touches will help your home shine. First, start with flowers. Whether you buy them at the florist or pick them from your yard, they make elegant, simple centerpieces for any table, shelf, or mantle. Fill different containers and experiment with floating flowers and other trendy looks. It is a great way to bring the outdoors in.
But why not bring the indoors out to enjoy the weather? A pair of bistro-style metal bar stools makes a great addition to your deck, backyard, or balcony. The smallest scrap of lawn can become a chic outdoor café. Another great idea is to trade out your heavy winter curtains for lighter models. If heat is a concern, or rather your electric bill is, cut down on the AC by using insulated curtains. They come in lighter, summer colors and delightful prints so you can create a fresher look. Roll up heavy area rugs and try canvas floor mats, floor clothes, or cotton or jute woven rugs. When colder weather hits, you simply trade them again. Enjoy the summer with a lighter décor!
