Painting Tips
A fresh coat of paint can be just what your home needs. Whether you want to freshen up your look or change it altogether, painting is a wonderfully effective – and relatively inexpensive – solution. You don’t have to hire a professional to get professional results; you just have to take a little extra time to do things right. From preparing the walls to following through on your trim, painting can be time-consuming, but you will enjoy the results for years to come.
Start by protecting trim and light switches with painters tape. It is hard to “cut in” around these types of obstacles without coloring outside the lines, so to speak. Tape is a great painting helper! Start in the corners of the room, near the ceiling. Use an angle brush or pick up one of the handy paint edger tool that makes it easier (these are available at hardware stores and box stores). Do the tricky areas first, around the trim and perimeter of the room. After, try the W method. In one corner, roll a 3×3 foot W and fill it in without lifting up the roller. Keep doing this until the section is finished. Why? It helps give your paint a seamless look; no one will see your brush strokes or where you lifted and lowered your roller. In no time, you’ll have a luxury comforter sets and beautiful new room.
